ReelTrip — Privacy Policy

Last updated: July 27, 2026

This Privacy Policy describes how ReelTrip(the "app", "we") handles your information. By using ReelTrip you accept the practices described here.

Contact: agustin.carbajal.dev@gmail.com

Quick Summary

  • —ReelTrip doesn't require an account or login. There's nothing to sign up for.
  • —Your trips, photos and videos stay on your iPhone. We don't upload them anywhere.
  • —We don't sell or rent your data to third parties. Ever.
  • —We collect anonymous usage statisticsto understand which features people actually use. These are never linked to your identity, and we don't use advertising identifiers or track you across other apps and websites.
  • —We use a small set of third-party services: Google Firebase (usage analytics, push notifications, remote configuration, and an anonymous feedback inbox) and Apple (Maps, and saving videos to your photo library).
  • —Deleting the app deletes all your local data.

1. Data Stored on Your Device

Your trips live on your iPhone. Everything you create in ReelTrip — trips, stops, travel times, vehicle choices, and the photos and videos you attach to each stop — is stored locally on your device. When you pick photos or videos, ReelTrip keeps its own local copy inside the app's private storage; nothing is uploaded to any server. Your preferences (app theme, language, photo card style) are also stored on-device. Deleting the app removes all of it.

2. System Permissions We Request

  • —Notifications (optional). Used to send you occasional app news and updates via push notifications. If you decline, the rest of the app works fine.
  • —Photo library — add only (optional).Requested only when you export a trip video, so the finished video can be saved to your photo library. ReelTrip uses Apple's add-only permission: it can save new videos but cannot read, browse, or access your existing photos.
  • —Picking photos and videos. When you attach media to a stop, ReelTrip uses Apple's system photo picker, which runs outside the app. The app only receives the specific items you choose — it never gets access to your library.

ReelTrip does not request your location. The map is used to place the stops you choose manually.

3. Third-Party Services

Google Firebase (Google LLC):

ServiceWhat it's used forData involved
AnalyticsUnderstanding which features are used, so we know what to improve.Anonymous usage data — see section 4.
Cloud MessagingDelivering push notifications you opted into.An anonymous push token tied to your device.
Remote ConfigFetching app configuration (e.g., minimum supported version, maintenance notices).Standard request metadata.
Cloud FirestoreReceiving feedback you send from the app.Only what's listed in section 5.

Firebase's privacy documentation: firebase.google.com/support/privacy. ReelTrip uses no advertising SDKs and no attribution or ad-network frameworks of any kind.

Apple:map imagery is provided by Apple Maps (MapKit), and exported videos are saved through Apple's Photos framework. These are governed by Apple's privacy policy: apple.com/legal/privacy.

4. Usage Analytics

ReelTrip uses Firebase Analytics (Google Analytics for Firebase) to understand how the app is used in aggregate. This is what it involves:

  • —A pseudonymous app instance identifier generated by Firebase for your installation. It is not your name, your email, or your Apple ID, and it is reset if you delete and reinstall the app.
  • —In-app events, such as creating a trip, adding a stop, opening the player, changing a photo style, or starting and finishing a video export. These record that an action happened and basic non-personal details (for example, how many stops a trip has, or which export format was chosen) — never the content of your trips.
  • —Technical context: device model, iOS version, app version, and app language.
  • —An approximate location (country or region only), which Firebase derives from your IP address. ReelTrip never requests or receives your precise location.

What analytics never includes: your name or email address, the names or coordinates of your stops, your photos or videos, or any advertising identifier (IDFA). Because ReelTrip has no accounts, this data cannot be linked to your identity.

5. Feedback You Send Us

The in-app feedback form is anonymous and optional. When you submit feedback, we receive: your message, the feedback category (suggestion, bug, improvement, other), the app version and build number, your app language, your iOS version, and your device model (e.g., "iPhone16,1"). We do not collect your name, email address, or any account identifier with your feedback. This information is used solely to understand and act on your feedback.

Because the message is a free-text field, please avoid including personal details you don't want to share — we only need enough to understand the problem.

6. How We Use This Data

  • —Usage analytics: only to see which features are used and where people get stuck, so we can decide what to build and fix.
  • —Push tokens: only to deliver notifications you opted into.
  • —Remote configuration: only to keep the app healthy (e.g., asking you to update when a version has a critical bug).
  • —Feedback: only to improve ReelTrip.

We do not show ads, we do not build advertising profiles, we do not use the advertising identifier (IDFA), we do not track you across apps or websites, and we do not sell or rent any data.

7. Retention and Deletion

  • —On-device data (trips, media copies, preferences): kept until you delete them or uninstall the app.
  • —Usage analytics: retained by Google according to the retention period configured for our Firebase project, after which it is deleted or kept only in aggregate form. You can stop future collection at any time by deleting the app.
  • —Push token: becomes invalid when you uninstall the app or disable notifications.
  • —Feedback: kept only as long as needed to act on it, then deleted.

8. Your Rights

Depending on where you live, you may have rights to access, correct, or delete personal data. Since ReelTrip keeps almost everything on your device, most of this is in your hands already. For anything server-side (usage analytics or feedback), email us at agustin.carbajal.dev@gmail.com and we'll respond within 30 days. If you're in the EU/EEA, you also have the right to lodge a complaint with your local supervisory authority.

9. Children

ReelTrip is not directed at children under 13, and we don't knowingly collect personal information from them. If you believe a child has sent us personal information through the feedback form, contact us and we'll delete it.

10. Security

Server-side, the feedback inbox is write-only from devices: app clients cannot read, edit, or delete anything, and every submission is validated on the server. Communication with Firebase and Apple services happens over encrypted connections (HTTPS). On-device data is protected by iOS's built-in encryption.

11. Changes to This Policy

If we change this policy, we'll update this page and the "Last updated" date above. Significant changes may also be announced in the app.
